Dr. Darlene Silvernail can be described as an individual who has the propensity to build trusting relationships and connections with just about anyone she meets.  Once that tie is created, she then acts as an agent to these relationships and links people together, creating partnerships and alliances while motivating them to move forward to achieve personal and professional success.

Dr. Silvernail is a highly energetic, goal-oriented leader in the Behavioral Health sector of healthcare.  Through her interactions, affiliation and relationships with state agencies, professional associations and programs; Darlene has built a reputation for being one of the best professional consultants in the field.  Dr. Silvernail has been a past nominee for the Robert woods Foundation Award (1997), The Best Practice Award (2000) and nominated three times for the Sun Sentinel Community Leadership Award (1999 – 2004).

A Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a PhD in Psychology and Addictionology Counseling, Darlene’s goal is to use her experience, education, and certifications to complement her compassion for those in need of help and duty to enhance the skills of those who strive for improvement.

In her journey of growth, Darlene has held post in the United States Army, was a Police Officer for the Harford Police Department before finding her calling as a counselor of human services.  In the last 15 years Darlene has held numerous leadership positions in outpatient programs, residential treatment programs and counseling centers.  She has over 26 years of experience developing and implementing quality educational programs in the field of addictions treatment and psychology.

Dr. Silvernail’s work is not limited to the mental health sector of healthcare.  She is and has worked in academia for the last eight years.  As a content expert and writer for several major universities and past  Director of the Psychology program at South University, which she grew to impressive enrollment numbers is a year’s time.  Her years of experience and connection in the field have brought a wealth of success to her students and the institution.  Outside the traditional educational system, Darlene has also served as an instructor of Criminal Justice for several local institutions Police Academies.

To share her many experiences and enhance the personal and professional growth of women at various stages of life, Dr. Silvernail teamed up with the women of PWN Books to write a series on empowerment.  In all Darlene has authored and co-authored eight books.  This series has not only found a steady following, but woman across the nation have experienced the Empowerment Series first hand through the seasonal conferences and workshops.
